Triathlon Swim Tips - Wear a Wetsuit If Permitted Wetsuits keep you warm but serve another functions as well, they help you swim faster. The neoprene that wetsuits are made of is extremely buoyant in the water. The more buoyant you are the easier it is for you to move forward. This extra buoyancy can help compensate any technique flaws that would normally slow you down and expend your energy. Resources for Triathlon Swim Training Wales coming soon. Triathlon Swim Tip - Keep your arm from crossing over. One of the most common bad habits I see in swimmers is the arm crossing over to the opposite side on the pull. Breathing on your left side results in your right arm crossing over, breathing on your left side results in your right arm crossing. Often this happens when one goes to breathe, but sometimes it's caused just from over-rotating. To avoid this, make sure your head isn't moving with the rest of your body, and try to pull more in a straight line (still bending the elbow) and ending the pull on the same side you started. (For example, right hand slices into the water, pulls back and hand ends up near right hip.) We would love to be able to print some testimonials here for Triathlon Swim Training in Wales so if you can help with this, we would love to hear about your triathlon swim experience with local triathlon training. Triathlon Swim Tip - Repetition is the key to becoming a strong swimmer. The only way to improve your swim is to keep doing it. If you are doing a race with an open water swim you should definitely add some practice open water swims to your training plan - you especially need to practice "sighting" in the water (swim straight to a location). The good news is that swim is a low-impact way to build your cardiovascular system.
